A group of 10 children from both year 6 classes came together to produce the second episode. They worked really hard to complete and edit the podcast (with very little support) in a short space of time. We hope you enjoy it! Merry Christmas!

Key Stage 3 Science SATs Revision podcast

Brain in JarYear 8 and Year 9 students from Heath Park, Wednesfield High, Moseley Park and St. Edmunds have spent today creating a podcast to help their classmates revise for their Key Stage 3 Science SATs exams next year. The topics covered by the podcast include:

  • Balanced and Unbalanced Forces
  • The Energy Transfer to a bulb in a circuit
  • Elements, Compounds and Mixtures
  • The Structure of the Cell

The students had to research, plan, record and edit the podcast during a 5 hour session at the City Learning Centre.  We hope you agree that they made a really good job of it! Podcasts can be used as a way for learners to explore and express their understanding of almost any curriculum area. Look out for more podcasts from Learning2Go schools in the New Year.

“The Witches” - an eBook from St. Alban’s CE Primary School

The Cooks (from the Witches eBook)Callum at St. Alban’s read “The Witches” by Roald Dahl and created a storyboard of the events when Luke turned the witches into mice. We scanned our drawings into a Word document, then combined the text and graphics to create our eBook. The target audience was Year 3 children.

You can also read the eBook online:

How was the podcasting?

l2gosmall.jpgIt would be really useful if students from Wednesfield Village, St. Jude’s and Long Knowle could give some feedback on how they found the podcasting sessions with myself and Mr. Porter. We felt that the sessions went really well, and we were very impressed by your commitment and creativity in putting together four excellent podcasts.

What did you think? Was it more difficult than you imagined? What were the challenges? What did you enjoy most? What would you like to do next with the skills you learned in the sessions? What will you change the next time you create a podcast?

I look forward to hearing your thoughts. If you’ve got something you’d like to tell us, submit it as a comment to this post.

Listener figures . . . .

I’ve just had a look through the statistics for the podcasts. In the last two weeks, there have been over 400 downloads of podcast tracks and nearly 200 online plays of podcast tracks.

Listeners have come from the USA, Austria, Greece, Ireland, Australia and Denmark. The world really is listening!
